Around 1987 Martin Cilia and I started working on a number of country style songs as I loved the then “modern” country of Garth Brooks et al. I think we came up with a number of really good songs but we’ve never recorded them (except as demos – although Martin recorded one with a band of his on cd) Unfortunately some of them my voice just doesn’t suit – don’t have that smooth molasses Randy Travis tone and can’t pitch like Garth. A few though worked very well, maybe one day some big artist will record them. Get in touch if you’re a country artist looking for material and we can send you a demo. Here’s one of the songs, which we played live a couple of times including Tamworth.
ALL BECAUSE OF YOU
Pool balls stop a clickin’
When you walk through that door
Quiet men start talking
Like they never talked before
My heart starts a pounding
Like a big b52
Everything’s astounding
All because of you
It snows in middle summer
It floods in desert plains
They’re sailing boats through sand-dunes
Where there never been no rain
And I start buying flowers
And knowing each perfume
Something weird keeps happening
Every time you’re in the room
All because of you
All because of you
This whole world is different
All because of you
All because of you
The air I taste is sweet
All because of you
I’m suddenly complete
At nights I do not want to sleep
There’s so much there to do
And every little bit I want to
Do that bit with you
All because of you
All because of you
This whole world is different
All because of you
This whole world is different
All because of you
