My only 1990s album Surplus and Dearth is now available @cdbaby and various other digital distributors.
SEE A VIDEO OF BIG BAD SEXUAL DRIVE also on the album
The album was recorded with Martin Cilia fulfilling the duties of producer and very often programmer. The songs were written in various permutations of Greg Macainsh, Martin and me. Nicole Warner did a lot of the backing vocals. I only ever had 1000 cds pressed and none of these are left, sold via my website or gigs. I think there are some excellent songs on the album which has a kind of dark, Lou Reed overtone. Today I offer up the lyrics of Assassin a song about paranoia, sex and heartache
ASSASSIN
It follows and it haunts
A thought that creeps and taunts
You don’t know where to hide
All you know is that you ache inside
The days seem awful long
The nights go on and on
The fan is always broken
The leaking fridge is always open
When you love your own assassin
Late at night you’ll wake up sweatin
It’s a very lethal passion
When you love your own assassin
You try to run but your heart calls out
You try to cling to any shadow of a doubt
You won’t admit you’re beaten
You try to mess with reason
You think you’ll dodge the bullet
You think you’ll spot the poison pellet
If it’s gas you think you’ll smell it
You try to run but your heart calls out
You try to cling to any shadow of a doubt
When you love your own assassin
Late at night you’ll wake up sweatin
It’s a very lethal passion
When you love your own assassin
You try to run but your heart calls out
You try to cling to any shadow of a doubt
When you love your own assassin
Late at night you’ll wake up sweatin
It’s a very lethal passion
When you love your own assassin

….this was that quiet Fan album, still holds up, “boogaloo” still apt but now by the new vile breed that live out there, that last song ‘heading west on sunset’ could be a movie told in flash back form, ready to be made- now, “big bad sexual drive” absolute classic, written for every middle aged man (sic) & “babe you got me goin'”& “assassin” still as good as ever, should be covered by some torch singer(wendy matthews/grace knight)whilst I’m leaning all alone @ the bar (I’m not an alcoholic, I’m a melancholic)of some joint on the verge of closing down in kings cross, get some lonely sax or trumpet in for me to be melancholy to. Might go & play the cd now – thanks for that.
You’ve had that classic shirt awhile but!
Yes, Fritze my shirt stocks are dwindling – enjoy the trax
