website down temporarily

The Dave Warner website is currently undergoing a transfer and is not available on-line at the moment.  This should be rectified in the next week or so – apologies to anybody who has been inconvenienced.

  1. If your web site is down can you get it back up quickly because I want to buy some of your classic music very soon.
I first discovered it when I was in Port Hedland in 1979 and have only just rediscovered it this weekend on Youtube.

Don’t know how good it is for my mental health but I have probably listened to “Mug’s Game” 100 times since I found it on the Choobe. You’re a legend Dave. };-)

  2. Hi Dave,

    How are you?

I’m a writer, based in Wollongong, NSW. I’m the author of numerous music-related books, including the recent Kasey Chambers book, A Little Bird Told Me, as well as studies of Silverchair, the Finn brothers and others. I’m the former music editor at Oz Rolling Stone. My website,, has my full background, bio, etc.

My next book, which I’m writing for Hardie Grant, is what I believe to be a long overdue look at the life of Graeme ‘Shirley’ Strachan.

I noticed on your website your heartfelt farewell to the man they called Shirl — and obviously the paths of From the Suburbs intersected with the Hooks on many occasions. (Pretty sure I may have seen you opening for them in the late 1970s.) Would you be willing to answer some questions about Shirl for the book, and / or permit me to quote from your eulogy to the man? It’s a moving piece of writing.

Of course I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have about the book.

Thanks, Dave and hope to hear from you.

    All the best
    Jeff Apter

    • Jeff, I thought my blog wasn’t happening and failed to check it for months – anyway only just got this request so please don’t think I was snubbing you. I believe the book is now finished as I am good freinds with greg mac so i hope it goes well for you. if I can help in the future let me know, i will now be checking this regularly

  3. G’day Dave

I have sent an email to Peter(?) at the Caravan Club at Oakleigh this Saturday asking if it’s ok to bring my camera and take some photos of your performance. I went to Queenscliffe Music Festival with the Triffids and photographed them along with The Cruel Sea, Waggins, and No Fixed Address.

If course you can have any of the shots I take if I’m allowed to do so on Saturday. If you want to see the images from Queenscliffe just look under the Music tab on

Hope this gets to you in time before Saturday and that you will respond positively. If you don’t I guess life really is a mug’s game
