DAVE WARNER'S from the SUBURBS 50th ANNIVERSARY TOUR THIS OCTOBER

It's incredible to think it is 50 years this October since `suburban rock' smashed onto the world music scene with the debut Octagon concert pictured below. 

Howie Johnstone played drums on that gig, and legendary Perth musician Jim Fisher guitar. Howie will be back for the 5-city tour and Jim will be a special guest at the Astor in Perth.

Howie isn't the only original Suburb in the band. Tony Durant who played on the original London demos in 1976 and then joined in Aus in 1978 will also be playing his usual brilliant guitar. Paul Noonan from Mugs Game/Free Kicks and Phil Bailey from This Is My Planet will share bass duties. Regular Suburbs since the 80s Lloyd Gyi, Nicole, Bill Beare, Dick Haynes will also be appearing some of the time, as will Haydn Pickersgill (Scapa Flow) from the first working Suburbs band. New Subs Phil Bennett and Sam Musca will be adding to the brilliant team of musicians. And there are yet more special guests at specific gigs.

The Astor finale in Perth will also feature a stint by Pus my original band 1973-5. This will be the first time we've played together in over 50 years but Nik Geronimus, John Negroponte, MJ Feeney, Jim Fisher and Howie with burst once more like a fresh zit.

LIBRARY SHOWS FOR NEW BOOK `SOUND MIND DEAD BODY'

A lot of action behind the scenes already this year as Dave has been working on the new Rude Crew album 'Rude Crew 2'. Should be done by May.

Also a lot of planning for the 50th Anniversary Dave Warner's from the Suburbs Tour. Dates for Perth, Sydney, Melbourne confirmed and waiting on Queensland and other possibles. That will be October this year. Stay tuned

Dave and Tony Durant have a number of their unique music/author library events coming soon. For more than an hour Dave talks about his books, and the inspiration for them and how it connects with his life and music. With Tony Durant's excellent guitar they intersperse a number of songs that relate in some way to the books. And best of all these shows are normally FREE or a token charge to cover wine and food. But there are also some special events -

2026 will be the 50th anniversary of Dave Warner's from the Suburbs first show and plans are underway for some special perfromances in October 2026.

'Still A Mugs Game' tour over but the music rolls on - 2023

What an amazing last half of the year it has been. In July we started the 'It's Still A Mugs Game' tour in Perth and finished last week in Melbourne. For the band it has been a wonderful opportunity to play together again and to be close again to bandmates.

And wow, what an audience. It was so wonderful to meet friends and fans old and new. We are hoping to have the original Suburbs playing in 24, but I'm also keen to do some book-music events with Tony and to do some gigs with the Rude Crew.

The Rude Crew is my posse of musicians that work with Martin Cilia and me to give life to our narrative more country style material. Our first single "Stella" is out now and the album 'Dirty Windcreens,Heartache and Beer' is out Dec 29.

On the book front, I've been overwhelmed by the reception for 'Summer of Blood' - thanks readers, I really appreciate the support.
